A very funny man who did an absolute blinder on his last visit. The " Oldest Swinger in Town " and at the same time " The Folker ". 1980’s Top Ten record Star. A great entertainer. His songs have been covered by Jasper Carrot & Little & Large among many. He is an experienced TV & Radio presenter & paid large sums as an after dinner speaker. Come along & have a good laugh.

Chris Wood
Co-writer of BBC folk Awards " Best Song 2006 ". Terrific musician and singer. His CD " The Lark Descending " was voted into the four top folk cds at the BBC folk Awards. Chris sings & plays English Traditional and self penned material on Fiddle & Guitar. He also performs with " The English Accoustic Collective ", Wood, Wilson, Carthy, and Andy Cutting, but really shines when performing solo. Chris was recently invited to join Paul Weller, Billy Bragg, Martin & Eliza Carthy in Simon Emerson’s The Imagined Village. He also has had musical commissions from BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and Between The Ears also from The Sage Gateshead and has completed work for Arts Council England whilst continuing his writing and lecturing. Chris’s new album TRESPASSER is now available.

One of the best known performers on the music scene today, Vin Garbutt has worked non-stop since 1969, toured the world and played all over Britain. Top Festival Band normally only appearing at leading Festivals. Quintessential Southern English Folk. Wonderful 6 piece group from Oxford. Any one who saw them on their previous visits will tell you how brilliant they are. Great English singing and playing. The six of them epitomize Southern English Traditional music and song. Bags of instruments including Cello & Hurdy Gurdy, Percussion, Fiddle, Concertina, Bouzouki, Flute & Guitar.

Gordon Giltrap
Truly a virtuoso of the guitar, award-winning Gordon is internationally renowned. Gordon’s music continues to evade categorisation, influenced as it is by the rock guitar of Hank Marvin and Pete Townsend, the folk guitar of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the classical guitar of Julian Bream and John Williams. Sarah McQuaid
Sarah McQuaid is a singer, guitarist and writer. The author of The Irish DADGAD Guitar Book, she has an exquisite voice and is a terrific guitarist. Previously resident in Ireland, she has recently relocated to the UK and is appearing at Sidmouth Folk Week & other venues. Singing traditional Irish and some contemporary songs. Wonderful duo that perform mainly traditional songs who really impressed on their last visit. Mary sings mostly in English and a few in Welsh, and plays banjo and concertina. Anahata accompanies with melodeons, concertina and cello, and they play instrumental arrangements, mostly of English traditional music. Really beautiful music

Graham Moore

Chris Foster
Chris has played and sung English Folk music since the 1970’s. He is a terrific guitarist and singer and often sings versions of songs rarely heard. Singer with the New Scorpion band. Tim specialises in the songs, traditions and all things West Country, He has performed with Magic Lantern, The Albion Band and The Melstock Band. Jeremy Taylor
The funniest, most entertaining and thoughtful artist on the folk scene. Jeremy (ex collaborator of Spike Milligan & Sydney Carter) has performed the world over on Radio & TV and numerous festivals. A great raconteur often relating to his 15 years spent in South Africa where he is a household name. Terrifically humorous and thought provoking songs (accompanied on guitar).

Pete Cooper & Richard Bolton
Second visit from this top notch duo featuring very English songs and tunes.
Pete visited recently performing with Rattle on the Stovepipe.
"Cooper and Bolton" are Pete Cooper (Fiddle, Mandolin and Vocals) and Richard Bolton (Cello and Mandolin & Guitar). They’ve played numerous gigs at folk clubs, and folk festivals – including Warwick, Oxford and Cheltenham. Their musical influences are diverse, but they identify their music - both traditional tunes and songs, and their own highly original new pieces - as "Contemporary English Roots". Truly wonderful music. "The day’s first highlight for me was from Pete Cooper and Richard Bolton whose virtuoso renditions of some folk classics on cello and violin were distinctive" - David Chambers, Warwick Folk Festival.

Black Tulip, Jon Anderson & friends, Jason Hinchey

Special 3 guest evening featuring 3 of the finest local acts.

Black Tulip are 3 young ladies singing lovely harmonies & entertaining songs. They performed at this year’s Wimborne Festival and many folk clubs in the area. New Deal String Band
The leading American Traditional Old Time & country blues group in Britain.The trio consists of Tom Paley (Guitar,Fiddle,Banjo & vocals) Ben Paley(Tom’s son) playing wonderful Fiddle & Joe Locker a veteran American Old Time player on guitar, Banjo & vocals.
TOM PALEY : Born and raised in New York City. He has performed in a duo with Woody Guthrie. Later, with Mike Seeger and John Cohen, he formed THE NEW LOST CITY RAMBLERS.In England, he worked together, from about 1966, with Joe Locker and a series of fiddlers as the NEW DEAL STRING BAND now with Tom’s son, Ben, joining Tom and Joe as principal fiddler. Tom appeared in all 3 of BBC TV’s recent Folk Americana programmes.
JOE LOCKER :Originally from, New York City, Joe Locker is a picker and banjoman who learned his trade in the late 1950s and early 1960s, during the now legendary Washington Square Park sessions. Aged just 21, he teamed up with a then little-known Alex Campbell and toured around Europe at folk clubs and caberet performances and the Cambridge Folk Festival.
He recently formed a trio with Rosie Davis and Bob Winquist.
BEN PALEY :Ben began playing the fiddle when he was 6 years old.Ben has recorded and played with The Levellers, The Saw Doctors and psychedelic dance-merchants Mandragora. Currently he’s working in a duo with Tab Hunter; with Duck Baker and Maggie Boyle in The Expatriate Game Sara Grey and her son, Kieron Means; and in English dance band The Sussex Pistols, amongst other things. He is a really great fiddler.

Andy Stone
One of the most talented performers in the area. Andy performs with numerous local acts such as Four Hand Reel, but really shines as on this rare solo appearance. Andy is a great guitarist, singer & songwriter with material across many genres. Andy is booked to appear at the Purbeck Folk Festival. Entrance £3.00.

We had a late change of program: Unfortunately Andy Stone couldn’t do the gig -- poor fellow was sickly -- we wish him a speedy recovery. However -- we are very grateful that Terry & Patsy, Jason Hinchly and Jill Redmond & Pete Gritton leapt in to fill the gap -- they made it a grand evening.

Terry is a fine local demon fiddler, lots of tunes and also accompanies Patsy, a wonderful singer, songwriter and guitarist.

Jason Hinchey is a magical singer-songwriter from Limerick, currently based in Bournemouth. Reminescent of Christy Moore & with great songwriting & singing skills. He is building a strong reputation in the area.

Jill Redmond is a very fine loal cellist; Pete Gritton will MC proceedings, no doubt telling some tall tales as well (or even better) -- often with Jill sawing away in the background -- so wonderfully that you forget to listen to Pete.

Roy Bailey
Roy has been delighting audiences since 1958 at Folk Clubs, Festivals and concerts all over the world. He has a great voice which he accompanies with guitar. When he retired as a Professor a few years ago he celebrated by performing with a few of his friends and filling The Royal Albert Hall. Roy sings with conviction choosing the best of contemporary material and some traditional. Roy has also been awarded the MBE for his services to folk music. Roy is equally at home performing to crowds of many thousands or as in this case to a lucky folk club audience. "Majestic, provocative, Quietly inspiring" - Mojo. Pete Harris & Hugh Budden
Great Blues duo with Pete playing stunning acoustic guitar & vocals, brilliantly accompanied on harmonica by Hugh. Check out some great material on his website and youtube. You may have been lucky to have heard Pete when he did extended floor spots when Ragamarag, Chris Foster and New Deal string Band were the guest artists.

Johnny Silvo
Johnny has been performing in Folk, Skiffle & Jazz venues for over 40 years.
He has made about a 1000 TV and Radio appearances. He is a consummate performer who’s full of energy with an amazing voice, and a great guitar style & a brilliant sense of humour. These days he lives in Norway and is seldom seen in the UK. His pedigree includes The Monty Sunshine Jazz Band, Diz Disley & a duo with Sandy Denny.
He really is a great performer, you’ll definitely go home smiling after one of Johnny’s gigs. "He was the first artist I ever saw in a Folk club back in 1970, I was immediately hooked." (Rod Biggs).

Quinns Quinney, Cath Burke, Paul Openshaw, Innominata
Quinns Quinney are an amazing 10 piece Skiffle band who have enough energy to power the National grid. Umpteen instruments inc. Banjos, Basses, Mandolin, guitars, percussion, ukelele, whistle & harmonica plus loads of singers. At their last gig over half the audience were up & dancing, be prepared to to enjoy yourselves.
Cath Burke plays mandolin, guitar and whistle & flute and is a really good singer. She plays in Djambo, Quinns Quinney & other bands.
Paul Openshaw is a fine singer/songwriter who plays guitar & Banjo. His songs such as Mr & Mrs Grumblybottom are very original and highly entertaining.
